Hair Stylist

Hair stylists provide services to clients such as shampooing, cutting, styling, coloring and highlighting. They also maintain safety standards and cleanliness,  assist clients in the selection of retail products or services for their hair care needs, and maintains a consistent relationship with clients. Hair stytlists are required to pass a licensing exam and maintain state licensure in order to practice in New Mexico.

 

Barber

Barbers cut, trim, shampoo, and style hair, mostly for male clients. They also may fit hairpieces, perform facials, and offer facial shaving. Depending on the state in which they work, some barbers are licensed to color, bleach, and highlight hair and to offer permanent-wave services. Common tools include combs, scissors, straight razors, and clippers. Barbers are required to pass a licensing exam and maintain state licensure in order to practice in New Mexico.

 

Nail Technician

A nail technician is a beauty specialist who is responsible for the grooming and appearance of a client's fingernails and toenails. He or she provides manicures, pedicures, nail shaping, cuticle grooming, callus removal, synthetic nail treatments, and application of nail polish for their clients. Nail Technicians are required to pass a licensing exam and maintain state licensure in order to practice in New Mexico.
